Overview

About this equipment

A Roots blower moves a fixed volume of air with every turn of its rotors. That’s why it’s the standard choice for wastewater aeration, pneumatic conveying and any process that needs steady, oil-free air at low to medium pressure. Sigma Process Controls supplies Roots blowers in twin lobe and tri lobe designs, sized to your duty, with installation support, spares and AMC across Tamil Nadu.

How a Roots blower works

Two (or three) lobed rotors turn in opposite directions inside a casing, driven by timing gears so they never touch. Air is trapped between the lobes and the casing at the inlet and carried around to the outlet. Because the rotors don’t touch and the air chamber has no oil, the air delivered is completely oil-free. Output volume stays nearly constant even when discharge pressure changes, which is why Roots blowers are called positive displacement blowers.
