Overview

About this equipment

The twin lobe blower is the most widely used Roots blower in India. It is simple, rugged and economical, and it is the standard choice for STP aeration, ETP equalisation and pneumatic conveying. Sigma Process Controls supplies twin lobe blowers sized to your air flow and pressure, complete with motor and accessories, and supports them with installation guidance, spares and AMC across Tamil Nadu.

How a twin lobe blower works

Two figure-eight shaped rotors turn in opposite directions, kept in sync by timing gears. Each turn traps a pocket of air at the inlet and pushes it to the discharge. The rotors never touch each other or the casing, so the blower runs without oil in the air path and delivers clean, oil-free air at a near-constant volume.

Twin lobe vs tri lobe

Twin lobe blowers cost less and are easier to maintain. Tri lobe blowers produce less pulsation and noise. For most industrial STPs and ETPs, a twin lobe blower with a good silencer is the economical choice. For apartments, hospitals and hotels, a tri lobe blower or an acoustic hood may be worth the extra cost.

Installation, service and AMC

Correct installation adds years to a twin lobe blower. We guide foundation, alignment, belt tension and piping, and commission the blower with a trial run. After that, our AMC covers oil changes, filter cleaning, belt and bearing checks, and genuine spares such as lobes, timing gears and seals.

Maintenance tips for longer life

Check the oil level weekly and change oil at the recommended running hours.
Clean or replace the inlet filter regularly; a choked filter overheats the blower.
Keep belt tension correct and replace belts as a set.
Watch discharge pressure; a rising reading often means choked diffusers.
Listen for new noises; early bearing or gear wear is cheaper to fix.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question?
Talk to our team about your application.
It depends on capacity, pressure, motor, drive type and accessories. Send your air flow and pressure for an exact quotation.
With correct sizing, clean inlet filters, the right oil and regular servicing, a twin lobe blower gives many years of service. An AMC helps protect that life.
Likely causes are worn bearings or timing gears, loose belts, pressure above rating, or a damaged silencer. Our troubleshooting team can find the cause.
It can, with proper valving, but separate or duty-standby blowers give better control. We’ll recommend the right layout for your plant.
